A delegation of government officials and researchers from Ukraine led by His Excellency Mr. Ostap Semerak, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, visited Fukushima Medical University on Friday, May 11.
The purpose of their visit was to participate in an international symposium on the environmental radioactivity after the Fukushima and Chernobyl accidents, which convened at Fukushima University. They also took this occasion to visit various places in Fukushima Prefecture to see the status of recovery and reconstruction following the Great East Japan Earthquake.
At FMU, a welcome from President Seiichi Takenoshita, was followed by Koichi Tanigawa, Director of the Fukushima Global Medical Science Center, who provided a brief introduction of the Center.
Also, Kenji Kamiya, Director of the Radiation Medical Science Center for the Fukushima Health Management Survey, provided a presentation about research activities of the Center to deepen their understanding of the Survey. An active discussion followed this presentation.
Before leaving the FMU campus, our Ukrainian guests visited the Environmental Dynamics Analysis Center.
