5-6 Sep 2014 UNSCEAR held a briefing in Fukushima city

Members of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) visited Fukushima Prefecture to discuss the comprehensive report they published on 2 April 2014, Levels and effects of radiation exposure due to the nuclear accident after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.

More than one hundred health professionals, educators, and others in each of two cities (Fukushima and Koriyama) gathered to hear their summary and discuss the report with spirited dialog. One of the important recommendations from the audience was that UNSCEAR members offer the same kind of dialog in places more convenient for those who had to relocate after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident. UNSCEAR representatives heartily agreed, and we look forward to their future visits.
